Whatcom Community Foundation Welcomes Sukanya Paciorek

Sukanya "Suki" Paciorek recently joined the Whatcom Community Foundation team as Director of Special Projects.  She and her family moved to Bellingham this past spring from Brooklyn, NY, where she spent the last 18 years working in the real estate, energy, and sustainability industries.  Most recently she was the Chief Operating Officer at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, a 300 acre economice development zone on the Brooklyn waterfront.
Paciorek is working on the Millworks, a mixed-use developmenyt project spearheaded by the Community Foundation, along with a range of community partners, that combines a local -foodhub with permanently affordable workforce housing and business-resilience resources at Laurel Street and Cornwall Avenue, the gateway to the Waterfront District redevelopment.
"We're so excited to have Suki on board," said CEO Mauri Ingram. "She brings termendous value to the Foundation, this project, and our community. Her interests in food, affordable housing and sustainable development, not to mention her experience with the Brooklyn Navy Yard development, are perfectly aligned with our vision for the Millworks."
Paciorek has a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from Ohio State University, and a Master's degree from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs, where she studied international energy management and policy.
