Unity Care NW Names Bonnie Ross CEO, Honors Retired Leader Jodi Joyce
BELLINGHAM, WA — Unity Care NW is pleased to announce that its Board of Directors has appointed Bonnie Ross as Chief Executive Officer, effective October 5, 2026. Bonnie has served as interim CEO since June and joined Unity Care NW in February 2021 as Chief Financial & Compliance Officer.
Bonnie brings 20 years of leadership experience in finance, compliance, and operations, most of it with community health centers. Before coming to Unity Care NW, she served as CEO of Klamath Health Partnership, a rural community health center with three clinics in south-central Oregon, and as CFO of community health centers in Portland and California’s Central Valley.
Over the past five years at Unity Care NW, Bonnie helped strengthen the organization’s financial position while continuing to invest in patient care, staff, and services. She led quality improvement work that moved Unity Care NW into the top tier of its regional care network. She’s also played a key leadership role in the organization’s transition to the Epic electronic health record system. Bonnie holds an MBA from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Science and Health from the University of Utah.
“I believe in Unity Care NW and the work we do every day,” said Ross. “Our mission is more than providing health care. It’s making sure every person in our community has access to compassionate, high-quality care, whatever their circumstances. I’m honored to keep doing that work alongside our staff, our patients, and our neighbors across Whatcom County.”
“We are thrilled to welcome Bonnie into the role she has so expertly stewarded in the months since Jodi retired,” said Chris Phillips, Board President. “She brings the vision, experience, and values needed to lead this organization into its next chapter.”
Bonnie succeeds Jodi Joyce, who retired in June after six years at the helm of Unity Care NW. Under Jodi’s leadership, the organization expanded care to nearly 25,000 patients annually, opened The Way Station Health & Hygiene Center, and achieved a strong financial position that sets the stage for continued growth. Unity Care NW is grateful for her dedication and the lasting impact she made on this community.
“Over the past six years, Jodi has guided Unity Care NW through a period of significant challenge and transformation, strengthening the organization and leaving it in a very strong financial position, well positioned for the future,” said Jennifer Moldver, former Board President of Unity Care NW.
