February 27, 2025

A.C. Griffith, president and CEO of North Coast Credit Union, received the Financial Literacy Champion award on Feb. 20 from Whatcom Dream for his volunteer work with the nonprofit organization.
“The award is our way of letting the entire community see what it really takes to make a nonprofit like Whatcom Dream possible,” said Trudy Shuravloff, its executive director.
Griffith recently completed eight years as board president for Whatcom Dream, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that has been providing financial empowerment courses, credit repair instruction, debt management coaching and community education since 1999. All of its classes and programs are offered for free because of generous community support, Shuravloff said.
“I love being part of Whatcom Dream’s history and future of helping others in our communities dream bigger dreams and bring them life-sustaining hope when faced with financial or economic challenges,” Griffith said.
Griffith joined North Coast Credit Union in 2019 and became president and CEO on Jan. 1, 2024. According to its 2023 annual report, North Coast Credit Union reported total assets of $353.8 million and 20,992 members. North Coast has branches in Bellingham, Ferndale, Mount Vernon, Anacortes and Sedro-Woolley.
