Kids are getting ready to go back to school soon.  Whatcom County School Districts have varying degrees of school supplies available for kids, with Bellingham Schools being the only district to provide the majority of supplies. Regardless, backpacks are not provided, and can be a pricey hurdle for many homeless, low-income and foster families. Blue Skies for Children is currently distributing brand new backpacks to homeless, low-income and foster children throughout Whatcom County through Sept 20th.   Julie Guay, Executive Director, says “We expect approximately 800 kids to come through the doors in need of a backpack this year.” Blue Skies is in need of brand new backpacks, sizes 17” and 19”.  All colors and designs are welcome.

If you are interested in donating a backpack, please drop off your donation at Blue Skies office at 2505 Cedarwood Ave, Ste 5, or at the Bellingham Regional Chamber Office located at 119 N. Commercial St., Ste #110., or bring them with you to our September 13th Networking Breakfast!
Financial support is always welcome, and can help us fill in size gaps.
