The only way to get through these unprecedented times is to support each other. In this spirit, U.S. Bank’s Bellingham team catered lunch from Café Akroteri for Lummi Tribal Health Center employees to thank them for their incredible work in keeping the community safe.

“It was more than a meal. This was an opportunity to connect with our community to show gratitude,” said Joyce Eschliman, U.S. Bank’s treasury management and payment consultant in Bellingham, who helped lead the effort. “The way our entire community, especially frontline employees, have risen up so quickly to help each other during this difficult time is inspiring and we are grateful to support them in whatever way we can.”

The support from bank employees was a welcome surprise to the health center staff, who showed their appreciation with a prayer and performance of a tribal victory drum song.

“The Lummi Tribal Health Center staff were working many hours to help the community be safe. In the middle of the pandemic, it was especially touching to have received a delicious hot meal from Café Akroteri donated by U.S. Bank,” said Dr. Cristina Toledo-Cornell, the center’s public health director. “We enjoyed the smiles, the wonderful and healthful meal and most importantly, the touching gesture to reach out to us during this most difficult time. The U.S. Bank staff were delightful, and we truly appreciated meeting them.”
