When COVID-19 safety concerns canceled their eighth-annual car show, Bellewood Farms & Distillery and Gear Heads of Whatcom County simply shifted to Plan B.

Approximately 25-30 classic cars, hot rods and pickups will participate in the “Taking It to the Streets” cruise through the county on Father’s Day, this Sunday, June 21.

The cruise will take place from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cars will go through the parking lots of Christian Health Care Center and Lynden Manor in Lynden at approximately 10:30 a.m. They then will head through Nooksack and Everson before reaching Silverado Memory Care in Bellingham at approximately 11:30 a.m. and Spring Creek Bonaventure at noon.

“While we can’t have our usual big car show due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Gear Heads figured out a way to treat residents and healthcare workers at these facilities,” said Eric Abel, president of Bellewood Farms & Distillery.

Also on Father’s Day, Bellewood Farms & Distillery will open its café and offer bakery goodies, hamburgers, pulled pork sandwiches and fish and chips from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Their store and distillery tasting room will be open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Bellewood Farms & Distillery includes 62 acres with apple and pear orchards and a 14,000-square-foot building containing a market and gift shop, café, bakery and distillery. The property is located at 6140 Guide Meridian, about halfway between Bellingham and Lynden.
