Chuckanut Writers Conference June 22nd - 27th via ZOOM!

The Chuckanut Writers Conference is proud to announce “CWC 2020 Online,” a weeklong program of virtual creative writing events to take place June 22-27. Accomplished writers will teach breakout sessions and master classes on a variety of writing topics—all delivered remotely through Zoom.
The conference faculty will present their creative work during a live virtual reading on Friday, June 26, at 5:30 p.m.
Breakout session topics include character development, novel structure, using sound and color, poetry and prayer, supernatural flash fiction, and writing during the coronavirus. Sessions will be taught by novelists Omar El Akkad, Kristen Millares Young, and Sonora Jha; poets Anastacia-Renee, Sierra Golden, and Jory Mickelson; and prose writers Ramon Isao and Priscilla Long. Each one-hour breakout session costs $20. Breakout sessions are scheduled so participants can register for any number of sessions without scheduling conflicts.
Omar El Akkad, Sonora Jha, and Priscilla Long will teach master classes on Saturday, June 27. The small-group setting of a master class offers the opportunity for in-depth exploration of a writing topic and quality engagement with conference faculty members. Master class prices vary based on class duration.
The goal of CWC 2020 Online is to deliver instructive and inspiring programming that nourishes creativity, fosters social connection, and promotes writers and their creative work—all worthwhile endeavors during this time of social distancing. The 10th annual Chuckanut Writers Conference was canceled in April in response to the Whatcom County Health Department’s recommendation to cancel summertime events and gatherings in order to prevent and reduce the spread of COVID-19.
