Some of the top professional cowboys in the world are expected for the 15th-annual Lynden PRCA Rodeo, scheduled Aug. 13-14 as part of the Bank of the Pacific Grandstand Entertainment Series during this year’s Northwest Washington Fair.

Tough and talented members of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association will compete at 7 p.m. both days. Lynden PRCA Rodeo events include bull riding, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, team roping and barrel racing.

Youth 10 and younger will be admitted for free to the grandstand when in possession of a Free Youth Rodeo Ticket, which can be picked up at the fair office or CHS Northwest locations in Whatcom County. Rodeo tickets will cost $15 apiece at the gate, but can be purchased for $12 in advance through Aug. 12 at all CHS Northwest retail locations in Whatcom County.

VIP packages for two for the rodeo shows are available for $196.

Tickets for the public are available starting at 9 a.m. June 13 at the fair office, 1775 Front St., Lynden, or by visiting www.nwwafair.com or calling (360) 354-4111. Gate admission is not included in the grandstand ticket prices and is required.

The Lynden PRCA Rodeo’s Aug. 13 show will be part of the Tough Enough to Wear Pink campaign. Contestants, volunteers and spectators are encouraged to “wear pink” to raise awareness of breast cancer while local rodeo volunteers conduct fundraisers. Last year the Tough Enough to Wear Pink program in Lynden donated $50,000 to the PeaceHealth St. Joseph Cancer Center in Bellingham for cancer patient care and research.

The Rodeo will recognize on Wednesday, Aug. 14 our nation’s service members past and present as part of Military Appreciation Day. This is the second year celebrating those who have served and the added fanfare is quickly becoming a favorite tradition.

Tickets for the Bank of the Pacific Grandstand Entertainment Series already are on sale for the demo derby (Aug. 12), nationally renowned comedian Larry the Cable Guy (Aug. 15), classic country artist Mark Chesnutt (Aug. 16) and rock-and-roll’s Cheap Trick (Aug. 17).
