A dinner/auction event on June 21 will help raise funds needed for construction of the Northwest Washington Fair’s new Farm Pavilion.

The Northwest Washington Fair Foundation is hosting its 7th annual Benefit Auction Event in the Haggen Expo Building at the fairgrounds, 1775 Front St., Lynden. A social hour with a no-host bar and silent auction will start at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. and a live auction at 7:30 p.m.

The live auction will include a Woodwind SG 24 Pellet Grill with Sear Box, VIP tickets to the nearly sold-out Demo Derby on Aug. 12 during the fair, a ride on a draft-horse hitch, a one-day rental of the beautiful Mt. Baker Rotary Building and a Seattle Seahawks helmet signed by star quarterback Russell Wilson.

Tickets cost $40 apiece. Reservations are due June 7 by contacting Tarrah Jandoc at (360) 354-4111, ext. 210, or tarrahj@nwwafair.com.

Major pledges from local individuals and businesses and a state grant already have raised much of the $5 million needed for the Farm Pavilion, which will be completed in time for this year’s fair Aug. 12-17. The Farm Pavilion also will include The Farming for Life Experience, scheduled to open in August 2020, said Jim Baron, general manager of the Northwest Washington Fair & Event Center.

“The Farming for Life Experience will redefine farming in the 21st century, showcasing the rich history of farming in this region,” Baron said.
