Drivers will be smashing and crashing – and some will be cashing – during the Northwest Washington Fair’s action-packed Demo Derby, presented by Manna Insurance Group, scheduled Aug. 12 to begin the Bank of the Pacific Grandstand Entertainment Series.

Approximately 70-80 entries are expected to compete for the largest demolition derby prize pool on the West Coast, according to Mike Scholten, president of the Whatcom Demo Derby Club. Anyone interested in entering should visit www.wddclub.com.

Tickets for the afternoon and evening demo derby shows go on sale to the public Thursday, May 2 -- $10 for the 12:30 p.m. show and $20 for the 7 p.m. show, which usually sells out before the event. The grandstand seats don’t include gate admission for the fair, which is required. VIP tickets for only the evening show are $98 per person, available in sets of two ($196 per pair).

People wishing to buy tickets before they are offered to the public may join the Friends of the Fair email list by registering for free at https://nwwafair.com/email.aspx.

Tickets for Larry the Cable Guy (Aug. 15), Mark Chesnutt (Aug. 16) and Cheap Trick (Aug. 17) are available now at https://nwwafair.com and the fair office, 1775 Front St., Lynden, and by phone at (360) 354-4111. The 2019 Northwest Washington Fair will be presented Aug. 12-17.
