Whatcom Community College men’s and women’s basketball teams are headed to the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) championship, which begins this week at Everett Community College. This is the first time the women have made it to post-season play since 2014.

The Orcas, led by veteran coach Tom Rawlings, are seeded No. 4. WCC sophomore Dominick Oliveri is the rebound leader for NWAC, while sophomore Tevin Bayne led the team with 17.2 points per game.
The women’s team, who clinched the No. 3 seed, are led by first-year coach Anthony Slater. They compete against Grays Harbor College at noon on Saturday, March 9. Sophomore Allison Hadaway is the team’s points leader with 19.7 points per game, which ranks 6th in NWAC. Sophomore and Lynden High School graduate Elisa Kooiman finished 7th in the conference for rebounds.
