Bowling for Beds Update from Laura O at Lydia Place

At this time, we had planned to be tying on some suspicious looking bowling shoes and hoping the strike vs. gutter ball ration was at least even. Life looks a little different now, but that’s not going to stop us.
Although we’ve postponed our Bowling for Beds tournament, we are encouraging a little fundraising competition between our kingpin teams and the community in the meantime.

What are Emergency Motel Stays?
Emergency motel stays provide a safe place for high-risk families with children to land temporarily while waiting for a housing placement. Last year, Lydia Place provided 4,600 emergency bed nights to children and their families.
In 2019, Bowling for Beds raised $10K. With your support, Lydia Place can continue to say “yes” to emergency housing requests from families with children who are faced with living in unsafe conditions due to inclement weather, fear of being unsafe, medical issues, and other inhospitable living arrangements.
We are a community of brave and spirited individuals who, regardless of circumstances, will not sit still while others experience hardship.
After all, you were willing to BOWL for a cause, which for those like myself, are more prone to gutter balls than strikes, is arguably the most embarrassing sport! So let’s not shelter in place to keep our big hearts and our competitive spirits down. Now is your chance to donate money to your favorite hotel team. Dollars have the same point value as bowling pins.
For every $300 a team raises, a perfect score of 300 points will be added to the teams’ overall scores.
The hotel whose team raises the most money will receive a fantastically sparkly, weirdly large, and awfully ugly trophy to display in their lobby, and of course, bragging rights for the next year!
So what are you waiting for? Say yes to a friendly competition, even from a distance, and make sure no child has to sleep in a car.

- Register to play on a team by donating $50 toward the team of your choice.*
- Donate any dollar amount on behalf of your favorite hotel team and increase their chances of being crowned Bowling for Beds 2020 Champion. Winner is determined by each team’s bowling core and dollars raised.
- Make a general contribution to our Emergency Motel Fund
- Share this event with friends and family to increase awareness about the vital need for emergency-bed-nights for children and their families in our community.
