Blaine Chamber of Commerce Announces Date Change for Oysterfest to Join Harbor Harvest Festival

The Blaine Chamber of Commerce announces a significant update regarding the highly anticipated Oysterfest event. Originally scheduled for May 18th, Oysterfest will now be joining forces with the Harbor Harvest Festival and will take place on October 12th.
This decision comes as a proactive measure in response to the increased likelihood of red tide occurrences during the month of May. In 2023, the community faced the risk of red tide impacting the availability of oysters right up until the week prior to the event. By moving Oysterfest to October, data shows that the likelihood of red tide significantly decreases, ensuring a more reliable and enjoyable experience for attendees.
"We understand the importance of providing a consistent and high-quality experience for our community and visitors," said Jacquee Sovereign, Executive Director of the Blaine Chamber of Commerce. "By aligning Oysterfest with the Harbor Harvest Festival in October, we can offer attendees a higher likelihood of fresh oysters and a memorable experience without the uncertainty of red tide."
While the change in date for Oysterfest may come as a surprise to some, the Blaine Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce an alternative event to take place on May 18th. Introducing Blaine's Spring Block Party! This all-new event will embody a laid-back backyard BBQ vibe, featuring food trucks, a street fair, live music, a beer garden, and more.
"We're turning May 18th into a day of celebration with Blaine's Spring Block Party," added Sovereign. "Partnering with the Blaine Birch Bay Parks and Recreation District 2 and their 'Picnic in the Park' event, we're offering a family-friendly day filled with fun activities, delicious food, and live entertainment. It's the perfect way to kick off the warmer months and create lasting memories with loved ones."
