Annual SSK Insurance Drive Sets Record, Donating 384 Turkeys!

Snapper Shuler Kenner Insurance’s eighth-annual turkey drive received enough donations to give 384 turkeys – nearly 2.5 tons – to two Whatcom County food banks in November.
The turkeys were distributed to families in need by Bellingham Food Bank (www.bellinghamfoodbank.org) and Lynden-based Project Hope Food Bank (www.christianhopeassociation.org/food-bank-1/). The total of 384 turkeys smashed the drive’s previous high of 247. The public donated $3,910. Lynden-based SSK Insurance matched the first $1,500 contributed and donated time and vehicles to deliver the turkeys to the food banks.
“We are overwhelmed by the community’s generosity this year and the food banks were so grateful,” said Bobbi Green, a 28-year SSK employee who headed the drive. “All of us thank the donors who made it possible to help many families at Thanksgiving.”
