Boundary Bay Brewery will gift $25,000 in donations to local Whatcom County-based organizations over the course of 2020 in honor of their 25th year of business being open to the public and to celebrate the community it has developed so many relationships within.

The brewery is choosing to help both long-time organizations with existing annual events as well as agencies new to the community that are creating unique and innovative events that speak to the organization’s mission and values. An application process is now open to all Whatcom County non-profits, schools and clubs for the next month in order to determine which organizations will receive donations for their asks.

“We are excited to help organizations that might need a bit of extra support from us to help grow and strengthen the foundations they’ve already established, old and new” says Boundary Bay General Manager, Janet Lightner. “Our mission, ‘When you choose Boundary, you choose community’, is based on all of the amazing relationships we’ve developed throughout the years, as well as the new organizations popping up that we truly believe in, so this is our chance to take what is a celebratory year for Boundary Bay and give back to those who have helped us get here and want to continue making a difference in the community with us”.

The deadline for applications is December 2, 2019, and will require applicants to provide information regarding main goals, how the organization has impacted the community and how the organization has connected with Boundary Bay Brewery and/or intends to strengthen that relationship in the future, among other materials.

“Here at Boundary Bay, we value the personal connections that we build with the organizations we work with, so we will be asking each organization that receives a donation to meet with a Boundary Bay Brewery representative in person to talk about the work their agency is doing, whether it’s’ over a beer, lunch or an afternoon in our beer garden,” says Lightner.

In order to streamline its efforts on these community-focused agencies, Boundary Bay Brewery has also stated that, for the year of 2020, it will only be funding 501c3 groups that operate in Whatcom County.

Applicants are encouraged to submit questions and applications earlier as opposed to later due to the December 2 deadline’s proximity to the Thanksgiving holiday. All questions are welcomed and can be sent to jenny@bbaybrewery.com.
