Bellingham Technical College Board of Trustees Announces Dr. James Lemerond as Next President

October 20, 2022 – Bellingham Technical College (BTC) Board of Trustees have selected Dr. James Lemerond to serve as the next president of Bellingham Technical College. He will assume his position at BTC on January 1, 2023. The Board of Trustees made the announcement at a meeting on Thursday, October 20, 2022.

 Dr. Lemerond has worked in higher education, focused on student achievement, since 2000. He started at Lakeshore Technical College in Cleveland, WI, as an adjunct faculty in 2001. From there, Jim transitioned to teaching and managing a medical imaging program in Milwaukee, WI. In 2007, he moved back to Lakeshore Technical College full-time, where he served as Radiography Program Faculty/Chair, Dean of Health and Human Services, and Dean of Business, Technology, and Hospitality. In 2018, he transitioned to the Vice President of Instruction at Lakeshore Technical College.

 Dr. Lemerond earned a Doctor of Education in Education Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, KY; a Master of Science in Training and Development and a Bachelor of Arts in Health Arts from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, IL; and an Associate of Science in Radiography from Northcentral Technical College in Wausau, WI.

Trustees wish to thank the members of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee, employees, students, and community members for their participation at the campus forums, feedback on the candidates, and commitment to the hiring process," stated Rick Kaiser, Board Chair, on behalf of the Board of Trustees. "Together, we recognize that Dr. Lemerond understands the college's needs, mission, and vision, and is the best choice to lead BTC forward."

 Dr. Lemerond and his wife, Carie, are looking forward to moving to the Bellingham area. They have two adult sons, and enjoy spending time outdoors, watching the Green Bay Packers, visiting family, and traveling.
