Brown & Brown’s Annual Turkey Drive Supports Whatcom Food Banks

Whatcom County residents and businesses may again help their neighbors in need by supporting the 13th-annual Turkey Drive conducted by Brown & Brown Insurance Services.
Brown & Brown’s Turkey Drive is being conducted Sept. 30-Nov. 18 to help local families struggling with the higher costs of food and other necessities. Brown & Brown Insurance Services in Lynden is collecting cash and check donations to purchase turkeys and chickens for those in need within our community.
The first $2,000 in donations will be matched by Brown & Brown Insurance Services. Donors will receive recognition on Brown & Brown Lynden’s Facebook page and office windows. Brown & Brown teammates also are supporting the Turkey Drive with internal fundraisers at their Lynden and Seattle offices.
Turkeys will be distributed to families in need by the Whatcom County Food Bank Network (www.bellinghamfoodbank.org) and Lynden-based Project Hope Food Bank (www.projecthopelynden.org). Last year’s Turkey Drive (pictured above) donated 3,731 pounds of turkey, which was given to local families in need.
“Layoffs, medical emergencies and more leave families needing extra help,” said Bobbi Green, a Brown & Brown teammate who is helping to organize this year’s drive. “These donations will provide healthy, protein-rich meals for many families in our local communities thanks to the generosity of so many individuals and businesses.”
Checks may be made payable to Brown & Brown and mailed to 501 Front St., Lynden, WA 98264. Checks and cash may be dropped off at the office between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays. For Venmo and GoFundMe options, please call (360) 354-4488.
