The founders of LaserPoint Awards & Promotions in Bellingham plan to soon launch another endeavor: retirement.

Randy and Kathy Cross, who started the business in 1997, have listed it for sale.

“We’d like to do some traveling and relax,” Kathy Cross said. “But we’re not in a hurry. It’s a fun business and we have loved every bit of it. We’ll keep going until we find the right people to take good care of our customers.”

The couple started 24 years ago as the first company in Whatcom County to offer laser-engraved awards and they’ve collected a few honors since then. LaserPoint Awards & Promotions was named 1997 Whatcom County Start-Up Business of the Year by Business Pulse magazine, Kathy Cross was honored as 2005 Professional Woman of the Year by Whatcom Women in Business and the company was recognized in 2016 as Small Business of the Year by the Bellingham Regional Chamber of Commerce.

“The key has been providing great customer service, always being there and on time to help our clients with their projects and events,” Randy Cross said. “We’ve also kept on top of new products and trends in the ever-changing promotional products sector.”

LaserPoint Awards & Promotions added screen printing and embroidery to its capabilities over time, becoming a one-stop shop for businesses, schools, leagues, families, nonprofit organizations and government agencies.

“We’re looking for a self-starter who can take the initiative,” Kathy Cross said. “Someone who is a hard worker, cares and is good with people.”
