My Garden Nursery celebrating
10th anniversary in Bellingham
My Garden Nursery, the colorful and fun locally owned garden center, is celebrating its 10th anniversary in Bellingham on April 1.
Owned by Jenny Gunderson and Bill Raynolds, My Garden Nursery offers thousands of trees, shrubs, annuals, perennials, herbs and vegetables on more than 3 acres. It also carries everything one needs to create the garden of their dreams, including organic soils, fertilizers, pottery, gloves and tools. My Garden Nursery is located at 929 E. Bakerview Road with a 17-foot-tall purple flamingo along the road.
The April 1 celebration will include cake, drawings, contests and free samples from the Purple Flamingo Café, which My Garden Nursery opened in 2022. The food truck offers panini sandwiches that it calls Flaminis, plus original soups, breakfast sandwiches, truffle fries, corn dogs, hot maple donut holes, cookies and coffee. The Purple Flamingo Cafe is managed by chef Ted Aspinall and is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sundays with a seating area and tables inside.
My Garden Nursery’s team of 15 employees are available to answer gardening, plant and tree questions with a fun and positive attitude, Gunderson said. “We are blessed to have the friendliest, hard-working and knowledgeable group of people in the industry,” she added. The public also is invited to attend various workshops and seminars throughout the year.
Gunderson said an increase in gardening’s popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic helped My Garden Nursery thrive during a challenging time for many businesses.
“People who stayed at home wanted something interesting to do,” Gunderson said. “Taking care of a living thing gave joy to college students and residents.
“Indoor plants became even more popular than before because they are beautiful and clean the air of pollutants and toxins. Many people enjoy the beauty and exercise in gardening and the pleasure of eating something fresh that you have grown.”
For more information, visit My Garden Nursery at 929 E. Bakerview Road, Bellingham, call (360) 366-8406 or go to www.MyGardenNursery.com. Products may be ordered online for pickup at the nursery. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays.
