Mount Baker Theatre Announces the Record Breaking 2026-2027 Centennial Season
Bellingham, WA — Mount Baker Theatre (MBT) unveiled its 2026–2027 Centennial Season
today, announcing the largest season in the theatre’s history. The season will bring more than 35
national and international tours to the historic Main Stage, including six Broadway tours.
Featuring a wide range of performing arts, the season reflects the theatre’s century-long
commitment of enriching and connecting the community to exceptional and dynamic
performances. This record breaking Centennial Season is made possible through the generous
support of returning Season Sponsors Neeter House of Luxury and Peoples Bank.
For a century, audiences have gathered beneath the theatre’s chandelier to experience the power
of live performance. Proving 100 years is just the opening act, MBT’s 2026-2027 season features
performances from all-stars like Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass, Bill Nye, W. Kamau Bell,
Ingrid Michaelson, Straight No Chaser, Mannheim Steamroller, Mavis Staples, Pink Martini,
Hervé Koubi, Jon Lovitz, and David Sedaris. MBT’s Broadway lineup includes Waitress, The
Wiz, Beetlejuice, Hadestown, Clue, and Shucked.
“The Mount Baker Theatre will soon be entering its 100th Season,” said Renee Gaumond, MBT
Program Director. “I’m excited to be part of the theatre’s current chapter and humbled and
inspired by the many who shaped this venue before me. Our 2026–2027 Centennial Season
promises to be full of surprises and exceptional live entertainment for everyone.”
The 2026-2027 Centennial Season serves as the centerpiece of the Mount Baker Theatre’s 100th
anniversary celebration with the theatre’s official birthday on April 29, 2027. In celebration of
opening day back in 1927, Mount Baker Theatre will screen the first film ever shown at the
historic movie palace: Slide, Kelly, Slide with a live score by resident organist Dennis James on
the original and recently restored 1927 Mighty Wurlitzer pipe organ.
Tickets for the 2026-2027 Centennial Season will go on sale to the general public Monday, July
6 at 10:00 AM. MBT Members get exclusive access to the season with an early presale starting
Monday, June 15 at 10:00 AM.
MBT recently unveiled a new logo inspired by the theatre’s legacy and iconic architecture. The
updated branding introduces a reimagined logo, website elements, and a jewel-inspired palette
that will carry throughout the season. The Centennial Season branding reflects both the grandeur
of the historic theatre and the vibrancy of the performing arts today.
In addition to the season announcement, the 2026-2027 Centennial Season includes
much-needed restorations to the century-old theatre to preserve its history and invest in its future.
This work includes carpeting replacement, updates to the ticketing kiosk, chandelier winches,
restoration of the theatre's original pipe organ, and over 1,500 new seats in the Main Auditorium.
Not only will these restorations improve patron comfort and worker safety, the work will ensure
the Mount Baker Theatre stays bright and shining for generations to come. Community members
are invited to contribute to this work through MBT's Centennial Campaign.
MBT would like to thank the city and county, along with the hundreds of volunteers, businesses,
and donors who have helped save, restore, and sustain the historic theatre over the past century.
Thanks to these efforts, the Mount Baker Theatre continues to be a central cornerstone of the
Downtown Bellingham Arts District, lighting up the skyline and drawing people in from all over
the state.
“For 100 years, the Mount Baker Theatre has brought people together through unforgettable
shared experiences,” said Lorin O’Grady, MBT Marketing Director. “This Centennial Season
celebrates not only the history of this extraordinary theatre, but the community that has sustained
it for generations and the future audiences who will continue to fill these seats for years to
come."
