Customers of the new Liminal Coffee shop in Bellingham’s Old Town will receive a unique BOGO value each time they visit. They’ll be savoring delicious beverages and food from local suppliers while supporting guests and programs of Lighthouse Mission Ministries.

“Liminal Coffee is a high-end café serving excellent coffee with attentive service in a calm, safe environment conducive to meetings and relationship building,” said Justin Reeves, Chief Operating Officer of Lighthouse Mission Ministries, which owns and operates the business. “We’re serving great coffee that supports a great cause!”

Liminal Coffee is opening Saturday, Feb. 14 at 916 Holly St. A grand-opening event will start at 10 a.m. and include a drawing for three baskets filled with coffee, goodies and merchandise. Liminal Coffee is on the first floor of the Lighthouse Mission Ministries facility with a separate entry from the entrances used by employees and guests.

Its specialty coffee is crafted with Monin syrup and coffee beans roasted by Makeworth Coffee Roasters of Bellingham. A wide range of beverages including cortados, lotus and frappes will be served. Much of the food is from two more Bellingham businesses. Pastries are provided by Lamination Station and breakfast burritos and sandwiches are created by Café Rumba.

“The vision for Liminal Coffee began with a desire to create a shared community space where meaningful relationships could develop and thrive,” Reeves said. “Many pivotal life moments begin with a simple coffee meeting. Liminal Coffee is designed to be a place where those moments can happen naturally while supporting skills development for Lighthouse Mission guests.”

He added that 100% of proceeds generated at Liminal Coffee will go back into supporting workforce development at the café and free services offered at the Lighthouse Mission.

Workforce development will occur as experienced team members work alongside a mix of current and former Lighthouse Mission guests. Free coffee and food for Lighthouse Mission guests will continue to be served in its separate dining room for them.

“While not all positions will initially be filled by guests, the long-term goal is to increasingly staff the shop with individuals who have developed skills and readiness through Lighthouse Mission programs,” Reeves said. “As Liminal Coffee grows, additional positions will be added and hours expanded, increasing both community impact and service capacity.”

Liminal Coffee’s initial hours will be 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. For more information, visit www.liminalcoffeewa.com or call (360) 776-3863.
