DeWaard & Bode donates $15,000 to Blue Skies for Children

DeWaard & Bode, a locally owned retailer with two stores in Bellingham and one in Burlington, recently donated $15,000 to Blue Skies for Children.

DeWaard & Bode raised $10,000 by conducting its charity golf tournament Sept. 14 at Avalon Golf Links in Burlington, then contributed $5,000 of its own funds.

This year’s tournament supported Blue Skies for Children and its Little Wishes Programs, which annually aids more than 1,200 children in Whatcom and Skagit counties. Blue Skies for Children provides enrichment activities, school-related expenses, summer camps and basic essentials for local homeless, low-income and foster children ages 6 to 18.

“With the help of our golf tournament sponsors and participants, we feel fortunate that we can make this donation to such a worthy organization,” said Jerry Roorda, owner of DeWaard & Bode. “Blue Skies for Children does a tremendous job in helping so many children.”

DeWaard & Bode golf tournaments now have raised more than $50,000 for local nonprofit organizations.

DeWaard & Bode, founded in 1946, offers appliances, mattresses, furniture and barbecues. It has two stores in Bellingham: its main showroom at 3944 Meridian St. and its outlet store at 4175 Hannegan Road, just north of East Bakerview Road. A third store is located at 1611 S. Burlington Blvd., Burlington.
