Event Description:
Join us as Tim Beery from WA State Labor & Industries discusses the benefits of the Stay at Work and Preferred Worker Programs, both of which offer financial incentives for employers.

If you handle the workers’ comp claims for your company, this On Topic presentation is for you.

A workers' comp claim that involves time off work can drive up your future rates. So what do you do when an employee is injured on the job and faces a lengthy recovery? Studies show that employees who return to medically-approved light-duty jobs actually have faster recoveries. The Stay at Work Program helps employers provide temporary light-duty work opportunities by reimbursing them for a portion of the wages and expenses.

If a worker is permanently restricted from the job of injury, they may be certified as a “preferred worker.” The Preferred Worker Program provides incentives to employers who hire a preferred worker for a medically-approved, long-term job. Benefits include premium relief, claim protection, wage and expense reimbursement, and a continuous employment incentive.

In this On Topic presentation, you will learn how to take advantage of these incentive programs, including the eligibility requirements, types of benefits that are available, and the application process. You’ll also have the opportunity to hear Return-to-Work best practices from other local employers. Come and join the discussion!
