On Topic: City of Bellingham Regional Fire Authority Proposal
The City of Bellingham will be joining us to discuss the proposal for the creating and funding mechanism for a Regional Fire Authority.
Calls for fire and EMS in Bellingham have risen by 35% in the last decade. Today, crews are responding to about 9,000 more calls a year than they did 10 years ago, but resources haven’t kept up. Without changes, we risk falling behind in these essential services.
In recent years, the City of Bellingham has had to cut back these services and others – like library hours and park and trail maintenance – because funding for them competes not only with fire and EMS, but also police, roads, and more.
Bellingham needs a sustainable, stable funding source for public safety and first responders so we don’t have to make trade-offs on the services our community expects. A Regional Fire Authority (RFA) can provide the solution to restoring and maintaining core services across the board.
At this webinar, you’re learn how an RFA can put our community on a healthier financial path, what an RFA is, and how it may affect your business. You’ll have an opportunity to ask questions and hear from Mayor’s Office and Fire Department leaders about why forming a Regional Fire Authority benefits Bellingham.
