DESCRIPTION:On Topic - Partnering For Success: How to strengthen our community with inclusive hiring\n\n \nThe Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Advisory Council (IDDAC) is a Chamber-affiliated group made up of local businesses\, self-advocates\, supported employment providers\, and others affiliated with the Whatcom County disability community. Our mission is to connect businesses to information and resources on hiring people with IDD to better reflect their community and benefit from inclusive workplaces.\n\n\n\nParticipants will be taught about the process\, community impacts\, and benefits of hiring individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities\, also known as supported employment\, from three different perspectives. Speakers will include Allison Cash\, Senior Lead of Whatcom County Programs at Washington Vocational Services\, Elka Milton\, a recipient of supported employment services at Dairy Queen\, and Karla Booker\, Human Resources Manager at Fred Meyer. \n\n\n\nThis is a presentation-style event and will include Q&A for the speakers. Participants will be connected to a supported employment provider for next steps if they choose.\n\n\n\nIf you're a business owner or HR Manager looking to put inclusivity into practice or find creative business solutions through recruitment\, this is for you!
