Whatcom Community College trustee elected to state board leadership team

The Washington State Association of College Trustees (ACT) has elected Whatcom Community College (WCC) trustee John Pedlow to its leadership team. Pedlow will serve as one of just two at-large members. As a member of the ACT Board of Directors, Pedlow will guide the advocacy plan and long-term strategy being developed with the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) and other stakeholders. The election took place May 10 at the ACT spring conference at Clark College in Vancouver, Wash.
“Pedlow’s colleagues clearly found compelling his commitment to student-centered learning, eagerness to help our system craft long-term strategies for program and financial support, and his private sector experience supporting start-up businesses,” said WCC’s Board of Trustee Chair Tim Douglas. “We salute John for stepping forward at this crucial time. Both Whatcom and our entire system should reap the benefits of his service on the ACT board.”
Pedlow is a retired CEO and board of director of Broadcast Electronics, Inc. and former vice president of Alpha Technologies North American Operations. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Widener University in Chester, Penn. He was appointed to the WCC Board of Trustees by Gov. Jay Inslee in December 2015.
