Local Tough Enough to Wear Pink donates $50,000 to cancer patient care

Tough Enough to Wear Pink, a committee of the Lynden PRCA Rodeo, recently donated $50,000 towards patient care to Bellingham’s PeaceHealth St. Joseph Cancer Center.
The contribution is the highest total ever raised through 11 years of the rodeo’s Tough Enough to Wear Pink campaign. Contestants, volunteers and spectators in the Lynden PRCA Rodeo, conducted Aug. 14-15 during the Northwest Washington Fair, wore pink shirts during competition to raise awareness of cancer.
“This amazing $50,000 donation was possible only because of generous contributions from many sponsors, countless individuals and proceeds from our annual dinner auction. Hundreds of volunteer hours from our Tough Enough to Wear Pink committee made this happen,” said Tresie Wiersma, chair of this year’s committee. “We also appreciate the administrative support received from the Northwest Washington Fair and Lynden PRCA Rodeo.”
All of the proceeds raised go toward patient care helping any type of cancer patient at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Cancer Center.
Since its inception in 2004, our national Tough Enough to Wear Pink has empowered rodeos and western events in North America to focus attention on the need for a cure.
