SEEING PINK TO HELP THE HOMELESS

Ciao Thyme fundraiser for Lydia Place combines food, fun, and philanthropy

Pink lights, spicy Jazz, and Spanish infused fare are all components of the first ever Seeing PINK! party presented by Ben Kinney Companies, a benefit for Lydia Place at the new Ciao Thyme Commons event space, April 22nd from four to seven pm.  Seeing PINK!,  is the latest manifestation in the non-profit agency’s ever-growing community events calendar, and the newest iteration of an annual event with Ciao Thyme.

Seeing PINK! attendees can expect a delicious and robust tapas-style appetizer menu courtesy of Ciao Thyme’s owner/head chef Mataio Gillis, all paired with curated beverages from local mixologist, Kamarie Chapman. A sweet bar presented by two locally and regionally acclaimed businesses, Saltadena and BIJA Chocolates, will complete the menu and edible offerings. Saltadena is a small batch artisan bakery, known for delicious cakes with a beautiful aesthetic, evidenced by its massive Instagram following. BIJA Chocolates is a 100% organic and fair trade chocolate company, working with women’s cooperatives globally to bring delicious chocolate to local buyers that can feel good about what they are eating. Food and drink will be set to the music of the Julian MacDonough Trio, a seminal jazz trio of Whatcom County.

Seeing PINK! is inspired by internationally renowned jazz band Pink Martini, known for their eclectic sound and eccentric shows, who are performing at the Mount Baker Theatre immediately following Seeing PINK!. Attendees of Seeing PINK! can upgrade their ticket to include a seat at the Pink Martini show directly following the event. Ticket prices are all inclusive of the evening’s festivities and range from $125 to $200.

Lydia Place is pleased to partner with Ben Kinney Companies, title sponsor of Seeing PINK! and longtime supporter. “Working in the real estate industry for more than 14 years, we often notice our clients dealing with lacking opportunities to get into affordable housing for themselves or their families,” said founder and owner Ben Kinney. “Our team understands the difficulty for many to find a suitable home, and we are excited to continue to partner with Lydia Place to pursue a future where every family has a place to call home.”

“Through a successful year full of growth, Lydia Place has been expanding our programs, providing more housing opportunities and reducing the time families and individuals have to be on the waiting list to receive housing. This would not be possible without the generosity from our community,” said Lydia Place Executive Director, Emily O’Connor. “It is so heart-warming to see our community rally to support families experiencing homelessness, and we are so grateful to Ben Kinney for his continued support of our work and mission.”

Lydia Place is known for being a local agency that combines fun events and philanthropy, drawing awareness to the faces and causes of those experiencing homelessness in Whatcom County. Proceeds from Seeing PINK! will support Lydia Place housing programs and services that provide housing placements, subsidies, parent education, and counseling services to over 400 local households each year. The mission of Lydia Place is to disrupt the cycle of homelessness for current and future generations. Seeing PINK! is an embodiment of community partnership and a collaborative effort with local businesses, artists, and supporters to aid the work and mission of Lydia Place.
