First Federal Community Foundation has awarded a grant for $25,000 to Lydia Place for the purpose of supporting the Strengthening Families, Building Futures Campaign. The Strengthening Families, Building Futures Campaign will equip Lydia Place with the physical space and tools necessary to deliver services to homeless children and their families, and to continue to expand programs and services to reach additional families in need.
“Homelessness is a complex issue and with no simple solutions, however, at Lydia Place we have seen the dedication and generosity of our community and the power of that support. We know that together we can end homelessness, not just for those on our streets today but for our future generations. We are grateful to First Federal Foundation for their support of our families and mission, as well as our local First Federal community. “ - Emily O’Connor, Executive Director

The Lydia Place Strengthening Families, Building Futures campaign is centered on the needs of our community’s most vulnerable children.  Lydia Place is expanding rapidly in response to the worsening state of homelessness in Whatcom County. This campaign builds on projects already underway, and enables Lydia Place to further our reach, and expand services to children and their families. The Strengthening Families, Building Futures campaign will equip Lydia Place with the physical space and tools necessary to deliver services to homeless children and their families, and to continue to expand programs and services to reach additional families in need.
Lydia Place has been a beacon of hope for local homeless families since 1989. Lydia Place provides emergency, transitional and permanent housing placements, case management, parent support, education and raises awareness of the faces and causes of homelessness. Together with our many community partners, our collective goal is to the end the generational cycle of homelessness for this generation and the next.
