Josh Holtcamp Receives Skagit Bank's Dairy Heifer Calf Award

Josh Holtcamp, age 12 and of Sedro-Woolley was selected as the recipient of the Skagit Bank 2018 Dairy Heifer Calf Award. The award is given annually to a 4H member through a process of application, committee review, and selection. In order to qualify, members must submit record books of their 4H experience.

With his Award, Josh purchased a Milking Shorthorn named Phoenix from Rosecrest Dairy, Gary and Shannon McCool of Chehalis. Josh has since raised Phoenix from just over three months of age and first showed her at the Whatcom County Youth Fair. In April, Josh and Phoenix won the honors of 1st Fall Calf, Junior Champion, and Grand Champion for Milking Shorthorns at the Evergreen Junior Dairy Show in Monroe.

Three more events are planned on their calendar, Josh and Phoenix will work to hone Phoenix’s showmanship skills as well as the goal to win Grand Champion.
