Sustainable Connections invites all to participate in September Eat Local Month’s last hurrah with Restaurant week, from Sunday, September 24 to Saturday the 30! Nineteen restaurants have dreamt up locally sourced specials, with 50% or more of the ingredients coming from Whatcom, Skagit, San Juan or Island Counties.

Explore new dishes with classic Pacific Northwest ingredients like Boundary Bay’s Eat Local Month Buddha Bowl, featuring Cloud Mountain Farm’s cabbage, mixed greens, grilled Walla Walla onion, heirloom cherry tomato, and cucumbers with a cashew tahini dressing and other fixings. Dig into old classics with a new twist, such as the Eat Local Month Zucchini Pistachio Lime Loaf with cream cheese frosting and ingredients from Joes Gardens, Day Creek Organic Farms, and Edaleen Dairy at Pure Bliss Desserts. All specials will be added to the Restaurant Week event page by Friday, September 22nd.

More than just delicious meals, Restaurant Week wants to highlight the dedication local restaurants have to our local farmers, fishers and producers. Aslan Brewing Co. has been working to increase local procurement since their doors opened. “We believe local food is better food, and that’s why we love it. We have found that the products we are able to source locally are fresher, bolder, and more unique than those sourced from outside the area. Plus, we know our dollar is going directly to help other businesses flourish in our community. Whenever local is available, we take it” says Aslan’s owner and CEO, Jack Lamb.
In addition to Aslan, Boundary Bay, and Pure Bliss Desserts, those looking for an Eat Local Month Special can visit:
