Candidate Filing Instructions

County Auditor Debbie Adelstein announced that candidate filing week is Monday, May 14 – Friday, May 18.  Persons interested in running for office can visit the Auditor’s website at www.whatcomcounty.us/1730/candidates for a list of offices up for election, candidate filing fees, a comprehensive Candidate Filing Guide, and other relevant information.
 
Candidates can file their Declaration of Candidacy online at http://www.whatcomcounty.us/1891/File-for-Office.  Online filing opens May 14 at 9:00 am and closes May 18 at 4:00 pm. 
 
Candidates who file in person at the Auditor’s Office, 311 Grand Ave., Suite 103, Bellingham, will be directed to a computer station to complete their filing information.  In person filing opens May 14 at 8:30 am and ends May 18 at 4:30 pm.
 
A candidate may mail the Declaration of Candidacy form accompanied by the filing fee beginning April 30, to the Whatcom County Auditor’s Office, Election Division, 311 Grand Ave., Suite 103, Bellingham, WA  98225.  Filings received by mail will be processed starting the Monday of official filing week.  Filings must be received in the Auditor’s Office no later than 4:30 pm, Friday, May 18.  Any filing received before April 30 or after the deadline will be rejected and returned to the candidate.
